Duro Felguera will build for Aya Gold & Silver a processing plant in Zgounder (Morocco) for US$ 78 million

Gijón. 01 december 2022. The Canadian company Aya Gold & Silver Inc. has awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Duro Felguera for the construction of its new process plant at the Zgounder silver mine in the Kingdom of Morocco.

This is a US$ 78 million firm-fixed-price EPC contract for the construction of a new 2,000 tonne per day processing plant. This will bring the total milling capacity of the Zgounder mine to 2700 tpd. Duro Felguera has been involved in the engineering of the plant since March 2022.

“We are very proud of our partnership with Duro Felguera, a long-established construction and engineering company with deep expertise in turnkey mining projects,” said Benoit La Salle, president and CEO of Aya Gold & Silver Inc. on the company’s official release, who also highlighted Duro Felguera’s “more than 160 years of mining experience providing customised solutions for mining projects globally.”

For his part, Jaime Argüelles, CEO of Duro Felguera has underlined as key to obtaining this contract the “technical capacity of our company and its large expertise in the sector with many references in the market”, as well as “the differential value that we always provide to our customers”. Argüelles has considered this contract as a very important milestone that “shows that the company is accelerating its contracting in this second part of the year and we are firmly on track to overcome our business plan”.

Aya Gold & Silver Inc. is a rapidly growing, Canada-based silver producer with operations in the Kingdom of Morocco. The only TSX-listed pure silver mining company, Aya operates the high-grade Zgounder Silver Mine and is exploring its properties along the prospective South-Atlas Fault, several of which have hosted past-producing mines and historical resources. Aya’s Moroccan mining assets are complemented by its Tijirit Gold Project in Mauritania, which is being advanced to feasibility.
