Duro Felguera signs engineering and construction contract with Sigma Lithium Resources

The contract was signed to jointly deliver the Grota do Cirilio project in the State of Minas Gerais, in Brazil.

The aggregate value of the turnkey project will be approximately 70 million USD.

Monday, 31 August 2020. Duro Felguera, a Spanish company specializing in the delivery of turnkey projects and the provision of specialized services in the energy, mining & handling and oil & gas sectors, has signed an engineering and construction contract with the Canadian mining company Sigma Lithium, a producer of lithium concentrate for batteries, to jointly deliver the Grota do Cirilio project in the State of Minas Gerais, in Brazil.

The contract includes the initial project design engineering (FEED) that will support the delivery of the turnkey project.

Duro Felguera has been working with Sigma Lithium since 2019, and after a review and optimization process of the Feasibility Study, was selected for the ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) process which resulted in an agreement for the maximum guaranteed price for the EPC contract. The aggregate value of the turnkey project will be approximately 70 million USD.

The engineering contract is part of phase II of the ECI agreement signed, while the contract for the delivery of the turnkey project is expected to receive the order for service by the end of the year.

The project forms part of Duro Felguera’s strategy for the mining & handling and renewable energy sectors as core areas of its business. The contract consolidates Duro Felguera as a reference company in the delivery of turnkey projects, more specifically in projects for one of the raw materials with the greatest future projection and greatest growth in worldwide demand.
