Duro Felguera Operaciones & Montajes (DFOM) enters the waste to energy sector with a new contract to carry out maintenance work at the energy recovery plant operated by Ekobal in Zubieta, Guipúzcoa. The agreement with Ekobal, a subsidiary of Urbaser, was launched recently and will run for two years.
The waste-to-energy system is one of the most efficient models for harnessing the energy contained in waste that is not suitable for reuse or recycling. At present, energy recovery facilities for domestic waste, such as the one operated by Ekobal in Zubieta, can satisfy approximately 15% of the electricity consumption of the generators of the waste that is treated, with a remarkable continuity that allows it to operate for more than 90% of the hours of the year.
Duro Felguera participates in this innovative project, which not only contributes to energy efficiency, but also embraces responsible waste management practices.
